Bridget Noonan, CPA, CA

Assurance Partner, Clearline Consulting CPA

Bridget Noonan, Clearline Consulting CPABridget is a Partner with Clearline Consulting and Clearline CPA.  Bridget has over 15 years experience in the accounting industry, with a particular focus on training and facilitating professional development.

Bridget began her career articling with a mid-size accounting firm and spent the next 12 years as a leader in the audit and assurance practice, while managing internal training and firm development. During this time, Bridget facilitated accounting and assurance courses through the British Columbia Institute of Technology and Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) professional development programs. After leaving public practice, Bridget moved into a professional standards adviser role at CPABC where she continued to support and assist practitioners and members through the application of professional standards, and by serving as provincial representation on various national task forces and committees.

Seeing a need in the profession and, in particular in public practice, Bridget left CPABC and co-founded what is now Clearline Consulting. For the past three years, Bridget has been assisting practitioners through continued involvement with CPABC, the provision of monitoring and consulting services and the facilitation of professional development courses in BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Through her work with clients in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, her involvement on various task forces and committees at CPA Canada and her continued relations with CPABC, Bridget continues to assist practitioners. Together with Tom Gillespie, CPA, CA, Bridget empowers CPA firms and practitioners with technical competencies, professional development, regulatory compliance, and practice management matters.

Tom Gillespie, CPA, CA

Assurance Partner, Clearline Consulting CPA

Tom Gillespie, Clearline Consulting CPATom is a Partner at Clearline Consulting and Clearline CPA.  Prior to co-founding Clearline Consulting, Tom was the Associate Director of Practice Review / Licensing at the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC). In this role he coordinated the daily operations of the practice review and licensing programs and also acted as a Practice Review Officer. During his time at CPABC, he also worked as a Professional Standards Advisor, providing technical advice to members, and was a contributor to the organization’s print and web-based publications. Today, Tom acts as a professional development instructor with CPABC and CPA Saskatchewan and also serves as a consultant and advisor to CPABC and CPA Canada.

Tom has over ten years of audit and assurance experience. Originally from Ontario, he obtained his accounting designation while articling as an external auditor at a mid-sized firm in Ottawa. During this time, he provided assurance services to private business clients in a variety of industries, as well as large not-for-profit organizations. Subsequently, Tom moved to Bermuda where he joined an international accounting firm in their investments and banking (I&B) audit department. While in Bermuda, his focus was in auditing investment funds, banking organizations, and related service companies. Tom also developed and facilitated the I&B staff training program and was part of an implementation team that performed beta testing and training for the international firm’s electronic audit software.

In his role at Clearline Consulting CPA, Tom provides file monitoring, professional development and training, audit/assurance planning and on-going consulting services to CPA firms and practitioners, helping them succeed and build thriving practices.

Shane Schepens, CPA, CA

Tax Partner, Clearline Consulting CPA

Shane is a Tax Partner at Clearline Consulting and Clearline CPA.  As such, he primarily focuses on income tax planning, reorganizations, and succession planning for Canadian owner-managed businesses in various industries.

He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Northern BC and obtained his CA designation in 2003. Shane started his accounting career in 2000 by working for a large international accounting firm for approximately ten years in their Prince George, Calgary, and Burnaby offices. Shane worked an additional five years for a mid-sized accounting firm located in Surrey, before opening his own accounting and tax practice in Surrey which operated for four years.

Now as Clearline Consulting’s Tax Partner,  Shane will be assisting practitioners with their client’s tax compliance, planning and corporate restructuring needs.
