Partner PD Series

For the past three years Clearline Consulting has been hosting dedicated professional development for Audit Partners in small to mid-size firms.  These sessions were created for audit partners to attest the meeting educational requirements (IES 8) under provincial licensing.  The sessions focus on the accounting and auditing issues applicable to private and not-for-profit organization we all serve.

With over 30 participating partners, all from small and mid-size firms, the sessions have provided a platform to share ideas and information well beyond the technical topic at hand. With many of our colleague firms moving away from the provision of auditing services, for the fall of 2023 we have expanded the offerings to provide sessions for partners with review and compilation licenses as well.

Our CPD for partners is concise and focused on what a partner needs to know.  For your CPD requirements this year, join partners in firms similar to yours, all addressing the same issues when it comes to navigating compliance and the running of a practice.

Three streams based on partner license category

There are three streams available based on your license category:

  • Audit – the audit stream focuses on IES 8 compliance to assist in meeting compliance when renewing your license category. We will discuss tips and traps related to CAS 315 implementation, sampling and audit evidence, as well as a summary of what’s new to take into consideration when planning your December 2023 audits.  All audit stream participants are invited to attend and or all sessions including in the review, compilation and practice management streams for up to 20 CPD hours.
  • Review – the review stream focuses on the fatal flaws, not the common deficiencies, that we encounter during our cyclical monitoring engagements. These issues tend to arise under areas of ASPE and/or ASNPO that are not commonly addressed in our practices.  The second session will highlight documentation issues that are noted as reportable deficiencies under practice inspection, and provide you with practice examples of how to identify and query these during file reviews.
  • Compilation –  the compilation steam focuses on the implementation of the new compilation engagement standards as well as other non-assurance services provided to our clients.  The second sessions is directed solely at firms who do not provide assurance services as we go over the new quality management requirements under CSQM1.  Non-assurance firms are required to implement these new standards by December 14, 2023.

All streams are invited to attended the additional practice management topics which include a 2023/2024 tax planning session with Clearline CPAs tax partner, Shane Schepens, a conversation around technology and the tech stack we are implementing at our firm, as well as a practice risk management session with Lorne Kotler, of Kornfeld LLP.

Register now to join our Partner PD series.  All sessions are held over Zoom on Wednesdays at 10:00am PST.  The first session for our Audit partner group gets underway on June 7th, 2023.  The rest of the sessions run September to December.
